Prospect Rundown: Cal Ripken League

CARY, N.C. — Prospect all-star teams representing five summer leagues gathered together for the two-day Southeast Collegiate Prospect Showcase last week at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

Yesterday we broke down some of the Valley League standouts. Here’s a look at some of the players who stood out for the Ripken League, either as professional prospects or as potential impact players at the collegiate level next spring.

Cal Ripken League Hitters

• Perhaps the best prospect at the showcase was Bethesda outfielder Christian Jayne (East Carolina), who redshirted this spring after working his way back from an injury that sidelined him in the fall. A projectable 6-foot-5, 190-pound long-strider, Jayne glides effortlessly around the outfield, where his plus-plus speed is a major asset. …
