COMPTON, Calif. — The 2020 MLB Draft reduction of rounds from 40 to five during the Covid-19 shutdown helped produce perhaps the strongest talent pool in recent college baseball history. The subsequent dwindling of affiliated minor league teams by Major League Baseball and the shrinking of the draft from 40 rounds to 20 is pushing more and more talent to college baseball and keeping more and more talent on campus.
