Prospect Rundown: Valley League

Summer Baseball

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Oftentimes, a strong performance in summer ball is a harbinger of good things to come the following spring. So when Mississippi State finished in the SEC basement in 2015, the Bulldogs drew optimism that summer from the fact that 11 of their players earned all-star honors in their respective college summer leagues. And many of those players carried their progress over into the spring, helping MSU win the SEC championship.

With that context in mind, Mississippi State fans might find it particularly interesting that two of the biggest standouts at Sunday’s Valley League all-star game were Bulldogs Keegan James and Tanner Poole. Both players could make big contributions for MSU’s retooled roster in 2017.
