DURHAM, N.C. — Kyle Funkhouser has found his groove.

The Louisville junior righthander came out of the gate stronger than any pitcher in the country, striking out 12 and walking just one over seven innings of one-hit, shutout ball on Opening Day. Then he went through a tough three-week stretch, when bitterly cold weather and Louisville’s shaky defense made it tough for him to get into a rhythm.
