Miami led 1-0 into the seventh inning, when the Tar Heels scored three runs to take the lead on Korey Dunbar’s two-run homer. UNC entrusted Thornton with a two-run lead heading into the top of the ninth, but Miami rallied for three runs to storm back ahead, and Garcia stranded two runners in the bottom of the frame to preserve a 4-3 win.
