The sophomore righthander is routinely hitting 98 mph on the radar gun. He has always thrown hard, growing up in Thomasville, Georgia. He brought that elite fastball to Southern Miss, where in his second season, he moved into the weekend rotation.
A season ago, Waldrep had the velocity but not the command. Pitching exclusively out of the bullpen as a freshman last season, he worked 16.1 innings in 11 appearances, with 3.2 innings his longest stint.
