MALIBU, Calif. — It’s always cool to see good things happen to good people.
That’s what makes Friday’s no-hitter thrown by Gonzaga’s Alek Jacob so satisfying. The junior righty threw a complete game without relinquishing a single hit in a 10-0 win at Pepperdine.
But when I talked to GU head coach Mark Machtolf after the game, he didn’t talk about balls and strikes or effective pitches or how his new Friday starter battled or what was working. He just wanted to talk about Alek Jacob, the person.
