NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Oklahoma State pitched and defended well in Friday’s opening day showdown at No. 3 Vanderbilt, but the Cowboys still walked away with a loss because their offense struck out 18 times and got shut out by Vandy’s Chris McElvain, Patrick Reilly and Thomas Schultz. So OSU coach Josh Holliday wanted his team to flip the offensive script early Saturday, and that’s just what the Cowboys did, scoring two runs in the first and tacking on additional runs in the second and fourth innings en route to a series-leveling 4-3 victory.
