Candid Coach Convos: Stanford’s Dave Esquer

D1Baseball continues to expand its interactive elements to its users, and in a new series called ‘Candid Convos with Coaches’, we will spend an hour with various coaches around the country getting their pulse on the sport as a whole, their program, and their pathway to Division I Baseball.

We hope to feature a new coach each week in our video and podcast series. And in our first edition, our Mike Rooney, Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt sat down with Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle, here. Our second Candid Convo featured Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor, which you can find, here. Now, we have a Candid Convo with Stanford head coach Dave Esquer.

Esquer has spent the last four seasons guiding the Cardinal the right direction. Stanford won 46 and 45 games, respectively, in his first two seasons with trips to the NCAA tournament. Though Stanford started the 2020 campaign on a negative note before the season ended, it rebounded in impressive fashion this past season with a 39-17 overall record and a trip to the College World Series.

We discussed a variety of topics with Esquer.
