Etheridge: Regular-Season Champs Left Out

The waiting is the hardest part. No one likes for others to control their fate, and for many of the teams eyeing one of the 33 at-large regional bids, Monday’s selection show was agony. Some of the teams got the news they wanted to hear. Others are left with questions, disappointment, and concern about their place in the game.

There was no “head-scratcher” selection as the bubble shrank thanks to surprise automatic bids for Michigan, Texas, and Florida International.

Once again, the power conference teams scarfed up the majority of at-large regional bids.
