Not Even Hurricanes Or Tornadoes Can Slow No. 16 FGCUFeatures
No more natural disasters, please.
That’s the hope of the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles, the nation’s 16th-ranked baseball team which has already lived through a hurricane and a tornado in just the past 5½ months.
“Our players have said that if we make it to the postseason, we don’t want to go to California,” FGCU coach Dave Tollett said. “We don’t want even a chance of an earthquake.”
The Eagles’ battle with the elements began in late September, when Hurricane Ian struck FGCU’s Fort Myers campus and the surrounding area, bringing sustained winds of up to 155 mph.
