MIAMI – Bottom of the ninth, tie score, 0-2 count – that was the scenario for end-of-the-bench reserve Tim McHugh’s first-ever FIU Panthers at-bat this past Sunday.

Hey, no pressure.

After taking a first-pitch fastball strike and swinging through a changeup, McHugh delivered on a low slider. He cracked a line drive past a diving third baseman, driving in Marcus O’Malley from second for what became a walk-off single.

McHugh rounded first base before his teammates surrounded him in jubilation, ripping off his jersey and showering him with water as FIU defeated visiting Marist 13-12.
