Old Dominion’s Myers Makes Spectacular Plays
Old Dominion junior outfielder Connor Myers deserves to be in the headlines.
The fiery veteran has been an integral part of any success the Monarchs have had so far this spring. He’s hitting an impressive .353 with seven RBIs, while in a 9-8 midweek win over Bryant, he went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of walks.
But it’s not what the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder, did at the plate that mattered the most on this day. Instead, it was his incredible defense. Myers made a pair of spectacular defensive plays in the win over the Bulldogs. One of the catches came early in the game, but the second catch couldn’t have come at a better time.
Bryant was threatening in the ninth inning, down one run with a runner on third base. The Bulldogs’ Robby Rinn then hit a towering shot to center field, and it was looking like Bryant would at least tie the game.
Myers, though, had something else in mind with a terrific diving grab to end the game and help the Monarchs improve to 6-5 overall.
