Where do you think Oregon State will settle on a 3rd starter? Stick with Gambrell? Starter by committee? Go all-in on Abel? Seems like one of the few question marks for the team at the moment.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:02 Matt

Kendall Rogers:

Matt,
I thought Gambrell would be a nice addition to the weekend rotation, but Pat Casey seemed pretty disappointed in him as of late. I think Abel has premium stuff, but he, too, has been iffy at times. I would give Abel a shot, but also wouldn’t bury OSU. I think the Beavers are still just fine on the mound, but they need to get more consistency out of that starting spot. I say let’s give Abel a shot.

Stanford’s last 6 games (3 against Texas on the road, 3 at home against USC) have resulted in a cumulative score of 61-7 with only one of those 6 games, giving up more than 1 run. How close are they to knocking on the door of that top 2 and knocking Florida and Oregon State off the perch they have been on all season.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:03 Brendon

Kendall Rogers:

Brendon,
Yeah, Stanford looks outstanding. I saw the Cardinal a few weeks ago against Texas, and couldn’t have been more impressed. The offense is in terrific shape with Hoerner, Wulff and others leading the way. I also really like the rotation. For me, Kris Bubic has evolved into a first-round pick. I just think he has a great build, his velocity has been better with the FB this season and his secondary stuff just continues to get better and better. If you had to poke holes, I’d say Stanford’s bullpen is just solid — not great. But it’s REALLY hard to find a negative about this club right now. So impressive.

Is this it for Wayne Graham at Rice? Owls staring 10-20, 1-8 in CUSA in the face with UH midweek and USM (in Hattiesburg) this weekend.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:05 Tim

Kendall Rogers:

Tim,
That’s a great question. Graham’s contract is winding down, and as much as I love the WG, it’s hard to imagine the Owls giving him an extension. Personally, I think this is going to be very very similar to the Augie Garrido situation at Texas. I just hope no matter what happens that Rice keeps Wayne highly involved in the program and school in general. He’s a legend.

[Comment From JohnJohn: ]

I watched some of Stanford’s games online this weekend. They look really good – in fact, I was expecting D1 to make them the top-ranked team this week. I know they were good last year, but they seem to be playing much better this year. What is the difference? Is it just a change in coaching or the addition and maturation of players?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:07 John

Kendall Rogers:

John — I’ll just say that the offense is much much better than it was last season, and I think it’s all about approach. Stanford under Marquess had become very basic from an offensive standpoint the past few seasons. Esquer likes a more aggressive, loose approach, and I think ti’s showing so far this spring. Color me impressed.

Is Ole Miss playing with fire with all of these come from behind wins and the law of averages will catch up with them? Or is this team a title contender that will only get better with more consistent starting pitching and defense.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:09 Justin

Kendall Rogers:

Justin,
Clearly, the Rebels played with a little fire over the weekend as they needed a meltdown in the bullpen from A&M to win the Friday game, but also give them credit for trading punches with A&M on Sunday and ultimately delivering the knockout pitch to win the series.

I think Ole Miss is more offensive than we thought it would be, and it’s doing it with more power, too. The Rebels wore out A&M’s pitching staff with extra-base hits in the series finale. I feel good about the starting rotation, but the bullpen might just be the best in the land with Will Ethridge, Greer Holston, Will Stokes, Dallas Woolfolk, and now Parker Caracci leading the charge. Caracci had an eye-opening weekend.

Has Jonathan India worked himself into top 2 round consideration? Round 1?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:11 Fonz

Kendall Rogers:

Fonz,
Fitt and I were just talking about this on the podcast. India should and will rise a great deal in our midseason prospect ranking update. He’s always had the tools, which is why he was in a respectable spot in our preseason rankings, but he’s taken things a step further. His plate approach this spring has been much better as he’s nearing as many walks as he had all last season with just 15 strikeouts. Meanwhile, he’s been consistent average-wise and has shown premium power as well. He’s jumping up the boards, for sure.

Thoughts on the Frogs after the weekend sweep?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:12 RobTX

Kendall Rogers:

Rob,
I think it was a step forward for the Frogs. Early in the weekend, the Frogs needed a home run from Luken Baker to win — and then the Frogs got better as the weekend progressed, capped off by a very, very encouraging start from RHP Sean Wymer. If Wymer is back on track and the Frogs can play like that every weekend, they’ll be just fine.

What are your thoughts on DBU’s series win vs Sam Houston State? Are they inching closer back towards the top 25 at all?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:13 Jeffrey

Kendall Rogers:

Jeffrey — DBU definitely opened my eyes, and it’s a big reason why it was ranked by us entering the season. The Patriots are without Ray Gaither (out for the year), Luke Eldred and Jordan Martinson (all three starters), and are still winning series against good teams like Sam Houston State.

As impressive as Jameson Hannah was to me over the weekend, Devlin Granberg showed premium power in the middle game. He absolutely smashes the baseball.

As Eldred and Martinson return soon, watch out. These guys are dangerous, and it’s a reason why Aaron had DBU as one of his Omaha sleepers.

Is Conference USA just a one or two bid conference this year? What teams do you think will get in?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:13 Trey Hebert

Aaron Fitt:

I think it’ll wind up being a two- or three-bid league. I feel like Southern Miss, Florida Atlantic and La Tech are all regional-caliber teams, and all of them have gotten off to good starts in the RPI (especially the first two). Unfortunately there are some real RPI drags down at the bottom of the conference, so this might wind up being just a two-bid league.

  Aaron Fitt
2:15
[Comment From FullertonBaseballFanFullertonBaseballFan: ]

The Big West is playing like a mid-major one bid conference and that is likely all that they will deserve to receive on Memorial Day is one spot in a regional, which will probably be a 4 seed at one of the Pac 12 schools. With the conference such a hot mess this season, the question is who do you predict will be the last team standing and in first place on Memorial Day to secure the automatic bid?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:15 FullertonBaseballFan

Kendall Rogers:

FBF,
Fitt and I were just discussing the Big West at the tail end of the podcast. You are right, it’s an absolute mess, and UCSB losing a guy like Noah Davis doesn’t help. Right how I would still lean Fullerton, and the funny thing is, it wouldn’t be that shocking to see CSF make the postseason and do some damage. Titans have the arms and Eastman would be a death matchup for someone in that No. 1 vs. No. 4 game.

Nick Madrigal got his cast off, do you have an ETA on his return, if not would you have a reasonable guess?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:16 Mike

Kendall Rogers:

I was told Madrigal would be back on the field in a couple of weeks the middle of last week, so there you have it. The Beavs have taken care of business without the best player in college baseball, but it’ll certainly be nice to see him back out there.

Thoughts on the WCC after week 2? Seems like it is up for grabs, USF looks good and LMU has won 8 of 9. How do you see this playing out?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:16 Tom

Aaron Fitt:

Up for grabs, that’s for sure — league looks wide open. USF has played the bottom two teams over the first two weeks, so I think the jury is still out on the Dons. LMU has come on strong of late, and I’m more impressed with their road series sweep of BYU and their home series win vs. Pepperdine than what USF has done. But ultimately Kendall and I both still feel like Saint Mary’s will be the best team at the end.

  Aaron Fitt
2:18
[Comment From Sam H.Sam H.: ]

Why drop LSU so much after going 2-2 on the week, with a tough series loss by 1 run in a 7 inning shortened game? They still aren’t healthy yet but have to be moving in the right direction, especially given Paul Maineri’s history of having his teams playing better ball in April and May.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:18 Sam H.

Aaron Fitt:

I mean, we only dropped them two places — I don’t think that’s much of a drop. KR and I talked about this on today’s podcast, we both actually feel very good about the direction LSU is headed in.

What type of run do you see this Illini team capable of? Do they have a legitimate shot at hosting a regional without any top notch series wins in non conference play?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:21 Chief

Aaron Fitt:

Right now Illinois is certainly in a good position to make a run at hosting, with a top 30 RPI team in the North, with some nice wins under its belt against good Pac-12 teams. Ultimately, I’m not going to bet on the Illini hosting though — I expect a little regression at some point. I do think this is a good club; heading into a season, I felt like the Illini could be good “IF” several things happened, and those IFs have turned into gold. Bren Spillane being the most obvious example. Amazingly, Yalowitz and Taylor haven’t even gotten off to great starts, and Illinois is still 15-5; once those two guys get going, this team has more upside remaining, because those guys have real ability.

  Aaron Fitt

[Comment From MickMick: ]

Kyle Brnovich seems to never get any attention. All he has done is dominate week in and week out. Strikes a ton of guys out. Seems filthy. Why is he usually less talked about?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:23 Mick

Aaron Fitt:

It’s easy to fly under the radar as a sophomore sometimes because everybody is trying to get looks at the draft-eligible guys. But yes, Brnovich has been very good for Elon; I need to get over there to see him and George Kirby, a pair of very exciting sophomores in that rotation. That is on my agenda this spring.

[Comment From Cole W.Cole W.: ]

Should Ole Miss keep Cooper Johnson out of the lineup considering Fortes is really good and they also need Zabowski and Cockrell need to be in the lineup?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:23 Cole W.

Kendall Rogers:

Cole,
Johnson is a liability from an offensive standpoint. If they can keep Fortes out there and he’s solid enough, I would do so just to get Zabowski’s power potential in the lineup.

Will Mississippi State and South Carolina be in the same coaching market after the season?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:24 Hal

Kendall Rogers:

Hal,
There’s 0.00000000000% chance South Carolina is making a coaching change after one season. Let’s get real here. As for Miss State, it will obviously be searching for a new head coach, and I continue to hear extremely positive things about potential candidates for that job. Stay tuned.

Which is the real Isaiah Campbell for Arkansas? The maestro against Kentucky or the meltdown against the Gators?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:25 Bill

Kendall Rogers:

Bill,
I have a feeling DVH is confused as to which Isaiah will show up each week. He was great in Cali, terrible against Kent State, great against UK and bad against UF. So, what’s going it going to be?

I do think this: Campbell was terrific the day I saw him, it’s in there. But he needs to be a lot more consistent if the Hogs want to compete for a national title. Period.

How big of a draft follow is Matt Gorski from Indiana? kid can play

Monday March 26, 2018 2:25 Steve

Aaron Fitt:

Gorski has really exciting tools — he’s big and strong at 6-foot-4, and the Hoosiers say he ran a 6.4 60 on scout day. Not a lot of guys out there with his kind of speed/power upside. Definitely a prospect of interest for 2019.

[Comment From KyleKyle: ]

I’m excited to see Duke climbing the polls for the first time in forever, but surprised that it’s their pitching that seems to be coming through for them. How dangerous will they be if their bats start living up to preseason expectations?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:29 Kyle

Aaron Fitt:

Yeah you’re right, Kyle — it’s pretty impressive that Duke has been able to get off to this kind of start even without Conine and Herron, their two best players, performing anywhere near their potential (not to mention Jack Labosky). Herron’s numbers are starting to climb; looks like he’s coming around — and it was only a matter of time. I think it’s encouraging that this team is 20-5 when it hasn’t played near its offensive potential yet; there’s definitely obvious upside here.

[Comment From BPDBPD: ]

What are your thoughts on Clemson? Do you think there is enough talent in the bullpen to get to Omaha this year? It seems there isn’t a lot of upside there outside of Gilliam.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:31 BPD

Aaron Fitt:

I’m actually not concerned about the bullpen; between Gilliam, Ryan Miller, Owen Griffith and Spencer Strider, you’ve got four pieces who should wind up being very good in that pen. I’m more underwhelmed by the rotation; just does not strike me as an Omaha-caliber rotation. We’ll see if they make any adjustments there.

[Comment From dd: ]

Texas probably isn’t in the top 25 discussion still considering their fall off of SOS in the past 2 weeks. In your mind, are they still a team far off? Or could they challenge for a regional host site by the end of May?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:31 d

Kendall Rogers:

D,
I don’t think Texas is that far off. I said it during the LSU series, but the Longhorns can really hit, but the starting pitching held them back, along with the bullpen. Kingham was very solid against Oklahoma State over the weekend, and both Beau Ridgeway and Bryce Elder were solid, too. If those two guys can step up and provide stability to the bullpen, that would go a long way for the ‘Horns. Texas has an RPI in the 30s, so never count anything out at this point.

Does Hess for LSU get drafted high enough this year to sign or do you think we will see him back next year?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:32 Brandon

Kendall Rogers:

He will get drafted high enough to sign, IMO. Even though he’s been iffy at times this year, he’s still a guy in the low-to-mid 90s with a slider that’s big-time when he’s on, along with a good frame.

How far out is South Florida from being ranked, and what have you guys thought about McClanahan thus far?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:33 Adamc12

Aaron Fitt:

Bulls are definitely close, after taking that series from UConn. They’ve played great baseball since dropping that series to UNC the first week. McClanahan is a rock star, although I can’t believe he gave up some runs this weekend! I was starting to think he was going to last the whole season with a 0.00 ERA…

Monday March 26, 2018 2:34 Greg D

With your article on DBU’s injury woes, what is the ceiling for DBU this year? Conference champs, T25, Regional, Supers, etc?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:36 Ethan Herrema

Aaron Fitt:

I know you were addressing that question to Kendall, but I’m going to pick it off. I still believe DBU is an Omaha sleeper — you’re starting to see why we were so bullish on that offense heading into the season (I think we graded it 70 hitting, 70 power in our preseason top 25 breakdowns). Even with those injuries on the mound, I think the Patriots are capable of slugging their way to Omaha, if they get hot at the right time.

[Comment From Toad TownToad Town: ]

My Frogs look to have righted the ship over the weekend in the opening conference series. If the starting pitching stays consistent, what are your thoughts on their chances to make it to Omaha for a 5th straight year?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:38 Toad Town

Aaron Fitt:

Yeah, Sean Wymer’s performance on Sunday was particularly encouraging to me. Pitching is the strength of that team, and if Wymer performs up to his capabilities, it’s going to be so hard to beat a rotation of Janczak, Lodolo and Wymer in the postseason. I I actually like the talent in the lineup just fine too; I think it’s starting to come together for the Frogs, and I certainly am not willing to bet against them making another Omaha run.

Guys, HELP!!! South Carolina is stuck in a funk, and losing guys like Hopkins, Hill, and Stokes don’t help matters. Give us something to step back from the ledge! Anything?!?! In all seriousness, I really like Mark Kingston and I think he’ll do well in Columbia. It is frustrating to see these guys take two steps back after some momentum they built during the UF series though. Thank you -KL

Monday March 26, 2018 2:41 Columbia Bridge Jumpers

Aaron Fitt:

Don’t jump, KL! Definitely a setback this weekend, and if you’re asking me today, I’m going to revise my assessment of South Carolina’s regional chances downward. I know I’ve been saying I think they’re capable of making the postseason, but after this weekend I’m skeptical; that’s a tough hole to dig out of against a very unforgiving schedule. But long-term, the future should still be bright under Kingston; just have a little patience (I know that’s hard at a top-flight program, you want to win every year).

Thoughts on what skip Johnson has done at Oklahoma thus far and potential for Oklahoma moving forward? Thanks!

Monday March 26, 2018 2:42 mike

Kendall Rogers:

Mike,
Oklahoma has been much more consistent over the past few weeks, and that’s been the big key as Big 12 play has begun. Devon Perez and Jake Irvin are having strong seasons on the mound so far. I’m excited to see how the Sooners fare against TCU and Texas two of the next three weekends. That’s going to tell us a whole lot.

UVA having a down year in the ACC. Do you think it’s a product of injuries, recruiting, something else? Not a great way to welcome the new upgraded stadium to say the least.

Monday March 26, 2018 2:43 Dave

Aaron Fitt:

Injuries are by far the biggest culprit — just really tough to lose your two best hitters and keep on performing at the same level. Their recruiting has been just fine; I really like the talent in their freshman class. But let’s see if they can develop another true ace over the next year or so, because they haven’t really had one over the last two years.

Kendall Rogers:

I feel fine about Hoffman, and I think Chafin will eventually get things rolling. Sherrod is the wild card. For whatever reason, he just is a feast or famine reliever. If he can be more consistent, that totally changes the game for the Aggies moving forward. Will probably determine if this is an Omaha type of team.

I know it’s early in the season but how good Is the chance Southern Miss could host another regional this year? How far do you see Southern Miss making it in the post season?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:46 Josh

Kendall Rogers:

Josh,
Right now, Southern Miss has an RPI in the mid 20s. There’s a long long way to go before we can start accurately predicting a potential host, but obviously if the Golden Eagles are in the 15-20 range RPI-wise, and win Conference USA, they’ll have a great chance to host. We’ll see how it all plays out. I view USM as a super regional type of club with a chance to get to Omaha. SR is a safe bet, though.

[Comment From TerpDeacTerpDeac: ]

I’ve got two teams so I’ll ask about both: Where do Wake Forest and Maryland stand in the postseason landscape right now after this past weekend? Wake laid an egg in difficult conditions against Notre Dame and the Terps got a nice series win against Stetson. At this point my hope is just for both to get to a regional, but is there any chance for more than that? Wake is still right in the thick of things in the ACC Atlantic with the Louisville and FSU series wins and I can still see UMD competing for the B1G title

Monday March 26, 2018 2:46 TerpDeac

Aaron Fitt:

No cause for alarm for Wake Forest; Notre Dame is a solid club, and that’s a tough place to play in frigid conditions, and at least the Deacs didn’t get swept. They’ve got some work to do to boost their RPI and improve their overall record, but I still like their chances to make a regional after those back-to-back series wins over FSU and Louisville. Maryland sorely needed that big series win against Stetson, which should be a huge RPI booster given Stetson’s gaudy record. I know Maryland has scuffled in the first month, but I still see the Terps finishing in the top 3-5 in the conference, with a chance to compete for the title. I’m not betting on them right now, because I’m not in love with the pitching depth, but I do really like the veteran lineup and the rotation.

Assuming Texas Tech and TCU are 1-2 in the Big 12, who’s the third best team in the conference? Texas is 5-1 and OU is 3-0 currently. Kansas and Baylor are also decent teams I feel like can compete.

UGA sitting at 5-1 in SEC play after the first two weekends. However, their schedule is about to get brutal. How many SEC wins do you think it’ll take to earn an at-large NCAA bid?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:49 Bryce B

Aaron Fitt:

Considering Georgia is starting from a position of strength with a top-10 RPI, I think 13 SEC wins would be enough to get it into a regional this year, given the strength of the league. And I’ll take the over; I think Georgia winds up going 15-15 or so. I know the schedule gets a lot harder, but I like their talent, and I’m encouraged by how they’ve coalesced.

Why is Miss. State set to hire a top 5-10 coach but South Carolina and Texas had to settle for mid-major guys?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:51 Doug

Kendall Rogers:

Doug,
Timing is everything. South Carolina piqued the interest of several premier coaches, but many of the ones I spoke with said the timing wasn’t right. Texas brought John Savage to Austin, interviewed with Paul Mainieri in Baton Rouge, and also had strong interest with Kevin O’Sullivan. But Mainieri got a raise, Savage ended up staying at UCLA, and O’Sullivan pulled out of the running.

It’s really tough to get a premier coach to leave these days. However, MSU is a traditional power and is building the best facility in college baseball history. That is an eye-opener for everyone.

Thoughts on the Canes after this weekend?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:51 Marty S

Aaron Fitt:

I thought if Miami could just hold on until early April when Reyes, Amditis and McMahon get back, they were going to be extremely dangerous in the second half. Sweeping Virginia was absolutely huge for Miami; now this young team has some confidence going, and they’re in great shape in the ACC at 6-3. In today’s podcast, I stopped short of saying “put it on the board” that Miami will be in a regional… but I feel pretty confident it will be.

Would rather not list names in the middle of the season, but let’s just say the top candidate is going to be a big one. I think they’ll have a shot at him, too.

  Kendall Rogers
Aaron Fitt:

Kendall is the coaching carousel guru, but let me just go on record saying ultimately I don’t think the guy KR has in mind is going to leave his current situation. It’s one thing to entertain a notion way in advance and let yourself be courted; it’s another thing to pick up and move your family and leave a great spot when it’s time to make a decision. Wouldn’t surprise me, frankly, if the MSU search winds up playing out similarly to the Texas and South Carolina searches. Like Kendall said, it’s really hard to pry an established, top-five-caliber coach away from a great situation.

Which series are you most looking forward to? Which is more important? Vandy/Florida or Ole Miss/Arkansas?

Aaron Fitt:

They’re both going to be awesome, and they’re equally important. But I’m going to Vandy/Florida, so that’s the one I’m looking forward to more.

Besides the pac 12, which west coast conference has the best shot at getting more than one at large team in the tournament and what teams would they be

Kendall Rogers:

Right now, the Mountain West is probably the best league out West. UNLV and San Diego State would be slam dunks to make the postseason if the season ended today. Meanwhile, the WCC and Big West would absolutely be one-bid leagues as of today. Crazy times on the Left Coast.

I saw Kendall’s twitter post regarding Florida’s new stadium. Was this decision purely a recruitment boost decision? The impression I get is they seem to struggle filling their current stadium even after a NC. What does this say about the state of college baseball?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:56 Mike

Kendall Rogers:

Mike,
When Kevin O’Sullivan turned down overtures from Texas and South Carolina, AND won a national title, the Gators had to do something. They were originally going to renovate McKethan, but Sully wanted more, and Scott Stricklin made that happen.

Remember, the grand stand capacity is going to be 5K, with the “ability” to put 10K in there on grass berms, etc… so it’s not a straight capacity of 10K in the grand stand. 5K is about right if you ask me.

Even though they dropped the series, did you come away more or less optimistic about UNC’s potential the rest of the season?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:57 Zach

Aaron Fitt:

Hmm… push. I continue to believe in the UNC offense, which has come alive pretty good over the last couple weeks. I was encouraged by Bergner’s second straight start, and I really like Baum even though he struggled. But the Sunday starter spot remains a real issue, and they need to get Hiatt back on track, obviously — but I certainly believe in Josh Hiatt. Ultimately, I think UNC will be a regional team, and it could get hot and make a run at hosting, but I believe a lot of that depends on whether or not Dalatri can return — and that’s a great unknown. Without him, this staff is much less formidable.

I know it is hard to project, but how high do you see Wallner getting drafted next year?

Kendall Rogers:

Right now, a first-rounder, or potentially a second-rounder.

I’ll be more aggressive here: I think he winds up as a top-10 overall pick.

How much can Ole Miss get out of their bullpen? And how sustainable is that throughout a season?

Monday March 26, 2018 2:58 Reb_Runner

Kendall Rogers:

Reb,
Absolutely it is. Ethridge was 91-94 with a nasty slider, Caracci was 95-96 with a nasty breaking ball, and Greer Holston looked the part stuff-wise. Add in there guys like Dallas Woolfolk and Will Stokes, and that’s a terrific bullpen. That’s a strength for this team.

What has happened to the traditional Pac 12 powers of USC, Arizona, and ASU? Over the last half-dozen years, it seems like they are out coached and have inferior talent?

Monday March 26, 2018 3:00 Pac 12 Guy

Kendall Rogers:

Pac 12,
Arizona just played for a national title two seasons ago, and I think the Wildcats have the talent to make some serious noise at some point this season. Their struggles at times are a little perplexing.

Arizona State’s demise is pretty clear — While the Sun Devis have an impressive offense, the talent on the mound has progressively gotten worse, or so it seems in terms of production. As for USC, the Trojans are OK, but they consistently get throttled by the draft, and recruiting against John Savage in that city isn’t easy.

Coastal carolina is playing very well. They had one bad week in early march but have been on fire since… 7 game win streak with a grand slam walk off HR over clemson in a midweek game last week. Your thoughts on Coastal?

Monday March 26, 2018 3:00 Hunter

Aaron Fitt:

Yep, nice rebound for the Chants after that little swoon. They’re hot now, and they’re a good club — that’s why they’re back in our Top 25. I think Coastal and South Alabama are the class of the Sun Belt; looking forward to their series in Conway in two weeks.

Hey Kendall, last week I asked about Hilliard from LSU—I’d say he passed his test with flying colors wouldn’t you? And can you comment about the ridiculous SEC rule that made that G3 vs Vandy a 7 inning game? The original start time to G3 was noon… the game started at noon. They finished G2 in about 10 minutes and had like 90 minutes to warm up for G3. Does anyone have common sense anymore?

Monday March 26, 2018 3:02 Kevin

Kendall Rogers:

Kevin,
I’d prefer to play all games out, especially when LSU probably chartered a flight up there. As for Hilliard, I’m sold on him now. His CB was sharp in the fall, and he commanded the zone well enough. He has had two strong starts in a row for the Tigers. Once again, Paul Mainieri is pressing all the right buttons for LSU. Shocker, right?

What is the ceiling for Kole Cottam in terms of rounds drafted? Hitting over .300 with 10 HR’s already

Monday March 26, 2018 3:03 Sal

Aaron Fitt:

He can hit and his power is legit; if a team believes he has a chance to stick behind the plate, he could go top 3 rounds. I don’t have a great feel for the scouting consensus on his defense, but I think he’s regarded more as a 4-6 round kind of guy generally. Great makeup, and has real ability; wouldn’t surprise me if he winds up going better than that.
