Rogers: LSU showed hallmarks of a champion long before Omaha run

OMAHA — Coaches often say that the Road to Omaha begins long before teams assemble at this hallowed ground called the College World Series. And the road certainly begins well before a team is raising the national championship trophy as the last team standing.

For this year’s LSU team, the road began during fall workouts, and it was a cool, windy day in Lafayette, La., in a scrimmage against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, where it looked like the Tigers had all the hallmarks of a championship club.
