LMU Uses Manic Eighth Inning To Stun Portland

LOS ANGELES — Sometimes things just snowball. 

And once rolling downhill that snowball becomes a giant avalanche and there’s nothing you can do about it but hope to avoid it. 

For the Portland Pilots, the eighth inning was that snowball that turned into the mighty avalanche. LMU, facing a 5-3 deficit, ended up sending 13 batters to the plate in the eighth inning and scored eight runs to turn that deficit into an 11-5 advantage. And that’s what the final score would be a few outs later.
