Newcomer Reports: Classes 21-25

Recruiting

On Monday, we revealed our 2018 ranking of the Top 25 Recruiting Classes in college baseball. Here’s our breakdown of the newcomers for classes ranked No. 21 through No. 25: Southern California, Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas and Georgia.

21. Southern California

Recruiting Coordinator: Gabe Alvarez.

Total Recruits: 14 (13 freshmen, 1 JC transfer).

The Breakdown

The Trojans landed their second straight Top 25 class, giving coach Dan Hubbs’ team a chance to make some noise in 2019. The centerpiece of this group is RHP Chandler Champlain, who has all the ingredients of a frontline ace, with a physical 6-foot-4 frame, an explosive 91-94 fastball that bumps 95 with arm-side life, a sharp, late-breaking mid-70s curve and a deceptive fading changeup at 80-83 with good deception.
