OMAHA — Jay Johnson was running late.

But none of the reporters waiting for the start of LSU’s postgame press conference would hold it against him. Not after the scene we had all just witnessed at Charles Schwab Field, which simply demanded a more boisterous and extended celebration than usual.

Finally, a little after three LSU players had ascended the postgame dais, Johnson joined them.
