Last night, when everyone else was sleeping, Mike Rooney and Kendall Rogers went on Instagram Live to discuss their initial reactions after most of the final games wrapped up from the 2021 regular season!
Conference tournaments produce extra games??? The PAC 12 (no conference tournament) plays more games than any other conference during tournament week.
I think you misinterpretted that……its more games if your season is complete. The PAC plays those game in lieu of a tourney, pro/con for each but i see the best advantage, at least most power 5 conferences, is bubble teams get a shot at top teams for help……as compared to a 3 game series, you get that, no chance to win and get a bigger prize.
Thanks for the reply and let me just say that this discussion is no hill to die on. But let me mention that my statement above is true on the face of it.
If the PAC 12 had a tournament it would allow some of their teams to exceed the 56 game limit. But without that tournament all their teams will exceed that limit.
Without a change in the rules, this would also be true for any conference which dropped the tournament.
Adding that I am not arguing the merits of a conference tournament. Just pointing out a simple reality we can all see with our own eyes.
