Teams On The Upswing

Analysis

The best part of the college baseball season now begins. Teams around the country will spend the next week jockeying for positioning in the field of 64, while also realizing what has happened the previous two or three months doesn’t matter all that much anymore. With another week of action in the books, it’s time to take a look at 10 teams we’re watching in conference tournaments and other action this week.

Clemson

Clemson Tigers logoThe Tigers have had somewhat of a see-saw season at times, starting off fast, struggling a little, and now playing very well at exactly the right time. Monte Lee’s club had a terrific week that included a road series sweep over Notre Dame to improve to 16-14 in the ACC. With the league record a couple of games above .500, the Tigers are back in as a regional host and could improve that hosting resume with a strong showing in the ACC tournament.

Clemson pitched well against the Fighting Irish over the weekend. Alex Eubanks tossed seven shutout innings in the series finale, while Clate Schmidt was terrific in Game Two and Charlie Barnes allowed a run on six hits in eight innings in the series opener.

Lee continues to put together quite an impressive bid for National Coach of the Year honors.
