Mississippi State is a National Champion.
Before tonight, winning a national title at Mississippi State had always been the expectation. Yet, with the completion of each season, the national title always seemed so far away. In all, MSU had appeared in 38 NCAA tournaments and tripped to Omaha for the College World Series 11 times coming into this season.
It was close to capturing the national title in 2013 with athletic director John Cohen as the head coach, but the Bulldogs fell just short to UCLA in the CWS Finals.
