I miss Mike Martin Sr.

“Eleven”, as he was affectionately known, gave us more than we deserved. Folksy interviews, incredible teams, All-American players, one of the great atmospheres in our sport … he was a gem in every way. Most importantly, he reminded us that fierce competitiveness and hall of fame level success do not have to come at the expense of class and grace. In fact, he showed us that those traits actually complement each other.

Well, Eleven retired and college baseball marched on. That’s how this works. It makes me sad, but the future of the sport excites[…]
