🎧 Committee Podcasts: National Seeds/Hosts | At-large/Auto bids

The top eight national seeds remained the same in D1Baseball’s field of 64 projection after Week 10, though there was some minor shuffling of the order of those eight. There was plenty of upheaval amongst the next eight regional hosts, however.

Four new teams moved into hosting position in our latest projection: UCLA, Georgia, Clemson and Texas replace Vanderbilt, Coastal Carolina, Duke and Texas A&M as hosts. The race for the last handful of hosting spots is a logjam, with a dozen or so realistic contenders for just a couple of spots. Check out this week’s Stock Report for more insight on how that race is shaping up.

This week’s field also includes nine new automatic qualifiers, and four new at-large teams, which reflects how fluid the postseason picture remains with about a month left in the regular season. The new at-large teams are Jacksonville, Ohio State, Mississippi State and UCF; they replace TCU, Washington, College of Charleston and Creighton.

As always, this is a projection: we’re not trying to illustrate what the field would look like if the season ended today. We’re still looking ahead, taking into account remaining schedules and our evaluations of the talent of the contenders, in addition to their bodies of work, of course.

Our last five teams in the field: LSU, UCF, Illinois, Wichita State, Iowa.

The next five: Creighton, South Carolina, Louisiana Tech, Troy, UNLV.

The postseason projections are compiled by D1Baseball experts Kendall RogersAaron Fitt and Mark Etheridge.
