USC gets biggest rivalry win over UCLA in more than 20 years

LOS ANGELES — Southern California’s season couldn’t have started much worse. 

The home-field-less wandering band that wears “Trojans” across its chest lost its first five games for the first time in program history. After the first quarter of the season was completed, the Trojans were an abysmal 3-11 heading into the finale of their Pac-12 series opener against Arizona. The Wildcats had manhandled USC in the first two games, but in the losses, the Trojans’ dormant offense had finally showed some signs of life.
