2023 Fall Report: Maryland
Fall ReportTYSONS, Va. — Matt Swope got a late start on his pursuit of his dream job. A standout player for Maryland from 1999-2002, Swope spent some time working outside of baseball after his pro playing days came to an end. About a decade after his Maryland playing career concluded, he approached then-Terps head coach Erik Bakich about getting involved with the program again. Bakich left for Michigan, but recommended Swope to his successor, John Szefc — who promptly hired Swope as Maryland’s director of operations.
