Spratling: USC/TCU Quick Takeaways

LOS ANGELES — It wasn’t the prettiest of games with six errors, but the Dodger Stadium College Baseball Classic between No. 6 TCU and USC was definitely dramatic.

After the Trojans took command with a four-run sixth inning that chased TCU starter Mitchell Traver, the Horned Frogs were able to answer with four runs out of nowhere in the ninth inning to tie the game. (Several USC defensive mistakes didn’t help.) Both teams had opportunities to score the winning run before USC ultimately scratched one across with a safety squeeze in the 12th inning for a 7-6 victory.
