Spratling: Red-hot Oregon cruises past UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Since the resurrection of its baseball program, No. 20 Oregon has been a small ball club. Head coach George Horton loves to challenge teams with the small game, forcing teams to field bunts and be mentally strong play after play.

But this year, the Ducks can play the small game and then hit the ball over the fence on the very next swing. Oregon dipped into the junior college ranks to grab some recruits this season and that has resulted in three everyday starters that have helped boost the Ducks’ power promise.
