By the time all of the preseason rankings and ACC coaching poll are released, Wake Forest might find itself in a position it hasn’t occupied since the glory days of Kyle Sleeth, Jamie D’Antona and Ryan Johnson: widely regarded as a top-10 club and a leading contender for the ACC title. But even that great 2003 team trailed Florida State and Georgia Tech in the conference pecking order; but 20 years later, the 2023 Demon Deacons might very well be the clear-cut ACC preseason favorite.
