Fall ReportBLACKSBURG, Va. — Midway through last season, the question wasn’t whether Virginia Tech would make a regional for the first time since 2013; the question was whether or not the Hokies could host one. On April 11, Tech was sitting pretty at 19-9 overall and 14-7 in the ACC, with quality series wins at Miami and vs. North Carolina, plus road series sweeps of Pitt and Wake Forest.
And then the wheels came off. The Hokies lost their final five ACC series and ended the season on an eight-game losing streak, making them 27-25 overall and 16-20 in the league.[…]
