West Coast Notebook: Odds And Ends
LOS ANGELES — Some odds and ends from the West Coast, focusing on the pair of midweek games I took in this Tuesday in Malibu and Westchester:

In “The Sandlot,” Squints calls Smalls an L7 weenie, meaning he’s a square since 7s are upside down Ls. Ls are usually bad in baseball, but not if it is referencing the throwing arm of a pitcher.
