UCLA Commit Carroll Has MVP-Worthy WeekAt The Ballpark
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — When Seattle (Wash.) Lakeside outfielder Corbin Carroll strolled to the plate Sunday night, he wasn’t nervous. He was leading off for the West team in the Perfect Game All-American Classic and facing the electric right arm of Daniel Espino, but Carroll was calm, cool and collected.
“At this point I’ve kind of been through it enough times where it’s not so much the nerves any more,” Carroll said. “That was definitely something I had to deal with earlier on in my career. Now something I try to do is remind myself I’m here for a reason.”
It didn’t take long for that reminder to turn into action. After swinging through a 96-mph fastball, Carroll jumped all over a 97 mph heater from Espino to start an MVP night.
