Fall Report: Northwestern

The 2021 season got off to a promising start for the Northwestern Wildcats. After a 2-2 split against Penn State in the cozy indoor confines of US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, NU went 7-3 the rest of the month with series wins over Michigan State, Minnesota and Illinois to give them an early 9-5 record at the end of March.

Mike Doherty and Tyler Uberstine gave the pitching staff a formidable 1-2 punch to open weekends, and the starting lineup – anchored by Shawn Goosenberg, Anthony Calarco, Stephen Hurstich and Michael Trautwein – was hitting the ball out of the yard[…]
